On January 21, the Forum CSRD team together with the partners from “Good Earth” visited the company “Zoralek” which is a certified company for production of organic honey and bee products, and organic farm in the village Palikura, Kavadarci. The purpose of this visit was to get acquainted with the process of organic production, the problems and challenges that organic producers face in N. Macedonia.
Currently a baseline study is under way to provide information on organic farming in the region. The partners in the “Organic Agriculture Innovation Platform” project, supported by the European Commission’s Erasmus + programme, will assess the situation and the needs, but it will also include comparative analysis between the partner countries in the project. The study will identify existing agricultural practices and potentials for development of organic farming in each of the partner countries (N. Macedonia, Croatia, Serbia and Bulgaria).
This study will also include data on unemployment in each of the partner countries, and the opportunities offered by organic farming. It will also contain information on climate change that has a strong impact on many economic sectors, including organic farming. The study will be published on the project website.
